Life in lockdown

Life has changed!

Arabic

Everything we knew or thought has changed.

Who would have thought a few months ago that people would be told to stay in doors, No body is allowed to go out.

Who would have thought that we would have to queue up to buy something from the supermarket?

Who would have thought that we would be told that we cannot see our family and friends?

Life has changed.

We are all forced to get used to in, we have no choice.

But by staying in we are saving lives.

Many people around the world have died from the virus.

Palestine has been very lucky compared to the number of people who have died in Europe and in America.

But Palestine has a different problem.

Cities like Bethlehem are built upon tourism, so now there are no tourists, so no jobs.

Even when this terrible virus is finally gone Bethlehem will still have a problem because it will be a while before the tourists come back.

That affects the jobs of people working in Hotels, Buses, taxi drivers, olive wood and many, many more.

As a community we still need to help those who are less fortunate, even when the virus has passed.

Spare a thought for the people who don’t have a job, who are waiting to still get back on their feet.

Remember them in this difficult time.

We also owe a big debt of gratitude for all the workers out there who are keeping us safe.

The National Guard, the Police, all the doctors and nurses working in the hospitals, the supermarket staff that put themselves in harms way so that we could continue to buy food.

They all deserve our thanks and praise.

Thank you for keeping us safe.
