Bethlehem is facing a crisis, nobody expected a pandemic but  the covid 19 pandemic has  hit the tourism industry and here in Bethlehem it has hit it hard.

Many people have lost their jobs, after all Bethlehem is built on tourism.

You have hotel staff, you have bus and taxi drivers who all rely on the tourism for an income, you also have tourist product made in Bethlehem factories  like the olive wood and the mother of pearl.

Everything has been affected, everyone has been affected in some way.

Some a little, some a lot.

But it is only in a time of a crisis that you find out who is truly your good neighbour, As Bethlehem faces this pandemic who is out there helping?

Are you ?

It's the difficult times that show us who really cares.

Do the people around you have enough food to eat?

Are they lonely and on their own?

Everyone needs to pull together during this difficult time to defeat the virus.

If you are sick you should be getting tested!

You should be self isolating, not going to work and spreading the virus to others, Irresponsible actions could lead to more people dying.

If you are out in the street you should wear a mask.

Everyone hates them and no one really wants to wear one but the law at this time requires it. We should respect the law even though we hate it.

We should also respect our neighbour, If wearing a mask makes my neighbour feel more comfortable then we should think about his needs.

We all need to look after each other.

It is our responsibility as a human being and as a citizen of Bethlehem.
