There is a saying Pride becomes before a fall.
Peter was one who boasted to Jesus, “I will follow you, I will never leave you, everyone else may fall away but I would never fall
away”.
But when the pressure came so did the fear and Peter denied Jesus.
Peter fell in a big way.
Was it soldiers who were asking him questions ?
No !
Was it the Local authority who asked him ?
No !
It was a simple servant girl, and Peter denied that he knew Jesus.
After Peter's third denial to a group of bystanders the cockerel crowed exactly as Jesus predicted.
The sound of that cockerel must have pierced Peter's heart,
As he realized exactly what he had done.
The one thing that he said he would never do.
Peter had denied Jesus !, and he wept bitterly.
How his heart must had broken, “what have I done ?"
“I've denied my friend”.
But Jesus in his love restored Peter and Peter went on to do great things.
