Denial

Jesus was arrested and taken to the high priest to be questioned.

And it was Peter who followed on behind.

But pressure was going to be put upon Peter and Jesus had already told him how he would respond.

Pressure in our lives can often reveal what is in our heart.

You may think that you are a great guy and don’t hate anyone, your very casual about life.

And then someone does you wrong, the pain and heartache inside that you feel is very great.

And you just can’t forgive that person for what they done.

It was the pressure of the situation that revealed your heart.

You didn’t know that unforgiveness was there until you came to a situation where you had to forgive.

God was going to test Peter.

Firstly, a servant girl came to him and asked “Weren’t you with Jesus?” A simple servant Girl,

No threat to anyone but peters response was denial.

Again, beside he fires he denied Jesus two more times and then it happened.

The sound that brought the guilt, the sound that brought the fear and dread,

The realization of what he had done.

The Cock crowed!

I imagine Jesus words echoed around his head, Guilt filled his heart and Peter wept.

As Christians we know that feeling when we sin and feel so bad afterwards.

We have betrayed our savior.

But Like Peter there is forgiveness. Repentance and confession brings about a clean heart.

And it is all because Jesus was willing to go to the cross for my sin.
