Baby Jesus was born in a Manger in Bethlehem.
He was there among the cattle and sheep.
In a lowly manger.
Humble beginnings.
But things were about to change because the life of this child was in danger.
Herod wanted to kill him.
Herod felt this baby would take his throne.
Mary and Joseph would have to flee.
And they went down to Egypt.
I am sure it wouldn't be an easy journey.
Trying to hide from Roman soldiers who want to take the child's life.
Taking the journey all the way to Egypt on a donkey was a long way.
But this was God's plan to save the life of the child and Mary and Joseph were willing to listen to God in order to save the child's life.
Once they were in Egypt they were safe.
It was a sacrifice that was worth everything.
The Christmas story is all about sacrifice.
Mary sacrificed her reputation to carry Jesus
The wise men sacrificed their time and energy to follow a star.
God sent Jesus at Christmas so that ultimately that baby would be a sacrifice for Sin.
