Gambling is taking a risk with your money.

Some people put their money on a horse hoping it will come in and make them rich.

Other people buy a lottery ticket and choose 6 numbers hoping these numbers will change their life.

Still others will buy a lottery scratch card because it says you can win 100,000sh with just a 10 sh stake.

But really in reality the odds are against you.

They tell you what you could win but they don't tell you that you are more likely to lose.

If you think about it logically when you buy a scratch card, firstly they are a business, they are in it for the money.

So, they need to make their share of the profits and pay their staff,

some gambling organizations give to charity, so they give so much of their money away to a worthwhile cause.

Then all the winners need to be paid, so if you have a 100,000 sh winner then so many people have to lose just so they can pay that 1 winner.

So many people need to lose so the odds are that you will lose rather than win.

Of course, you might win 10sh which is what you gambled in the first place, but you are more likely to buy another ticket than keep the 10sh.

And that second ticket is likely to lose!

So, if you gamble you really don't win.

Try instead giving money to help the poor and needy.

In that way you store up your treasure in heaven.

The bible says he who gives to the poor lends to the Lord.

So, give, the odds are better.
