He came to Jerusalem and saw that the walls of the city were destroyed.
The city was vulnerable
Anyone could come into the city because there were holes in the walls.
Nehemiah set himself to correct the problem.
He got teams working to build the defenses of the city so that everyone would be safe inside the walls.
Even when people came and made fun of him, he ignored the jibes and carried on with the task.
He was a man on a mission.
Sometimes in our lives our defenses can be down.
When that happens we can be prone to attack from the enemy.
The devil can drop a thought into our heads and we begin to think about what the devil has said rather than what God's word says.
We can build our defenses every day by reading and studying God's word .
When we know God's word then we can protect ourselves from the Devils fiery attack .
