Caesar Augustus

There are many characters that play their part in the Nativity story,

Arabic

Some are good and some are bad.

They were people God used at a particular time and place,

One of those people that God used was Caesar Augustus.

He had an idea, actually he didn’t have an idea, God had an idea and he planted it in Caesar’s head.

Caesar wanted all the people to be counted so they had to return to their home town, This meant that Joseph had to make the difficult journey with Mary who was pregnant to Bethlehem.

Imagine walking all that way from Nazareth in the North to Bethlehem in the south.

Such a long way!

Now Imagine doing it while you are pregnant.

It must have been a slow and painful process.

But God was doing it for a reason.

There was a little prophecy in the book of Micah that said Bethlehem would be a city of the king, for one who would rule his people.

God had to move Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem to fulfill this prophecy.

Bethlehem was going to receive her king.

God done it, Mary and Joseph arrived, and the baby Jesus was Born in Bethlehem fulfilling the old prophecy.

Bethlehem had a new King, King Jesus.
