The global pandemic

It's not what we expected.

Who would have thought that 2020 would have started with a global pandemic?

It took us all by surprise.

We could never imagine that we would be shut up in our homes not allowed to move very far.

That everyone would be carrying antibac handwash and wearing a mask in the street.

The global pandemic changed our world.

It changed Bethlehem; many people lost their jobs because of the lack of tourists.

Airports weren't running like normal.

The whole world came to a standstill.

Our generation has never experienced anything like it before.

We hear of little outbreaks of a certain disease in Africa but we have never had a major pandemic.

It took countries by surprise.

Sometimes we build our lives on work.

My work is my identity, then work is gone.

Sometimes we build our identity on money and a yearlong global pandemic wipes out our savings.

Sometimes our life is built on fun and friends, we live for the weekend, going out and socialising with our mates.

But the global pandemic changed all of that. We couldn't see friends any more for a while.

It just shows us how unstable life can be.

Something can come along and shake our world.

For some they lost loved ones. It has been a painful and heart-breaking pandemic.

It is at times like this, we look for something to hold on to.

Everything has been shaken.

But one thing remains, God.

Perhaps the global pandemic is God calling you to a closer relationship with him.
