The right response
The people of Nineveh were evil and wicked.
They deserved to be punished for their sins
so, God sent a prophet called Jonah to tell them exactly what was on God's heart.
When the people of Nineveh heard of God's plan to destroy them they repented quickly.
They turned away from all the evil they were doing and God took notice.
Judgement was going to come But God saw the change in their heart.
They listened to God and they repented.
Because they responded to the message God relented.
He didn't bring the judgement that he said he would.
He didn't need to bring it.
God didn't hate the people of Nineveh, he just hated their sin.
He was going to judge them because of their sin but because they turned away from their sin then there was no need for God to discipline them.
The job was done.
God saw their hearts response and there was no need for Judgement.
There is a good lesson here for us today.
If you have sin in your life, then Get rid of it quick.
Don't allow it to grow.
If you don't deal with it, then God may have to.
Repent today.
