Can you imagine sitting in a field and looking after your sheep when suddenly an angel appears.
The fear and dread that would hit your face.
You don’t know if it is a ghost, are you dreaming, is your life in danger?
What a scary time it must have been for the shepherds looking after their sheep.
Thankfully the angel said “Fear Not”.
They didn’t need to fear this angelic being, after all he has come with very good news.
The best news in the world.
A little baby has been born.
The Shepherds were the first to hear this news “The Messiah has been born”
People were waiting for the Messiah, they needed someone at this time to free them from the Romans.
The Messiah had just been born and they were given the joyful news.
But this Messiah wasn’t going to free them from the Romans!
This Messiah was going to free them from their sins.
Sin was something that was making them slaves, they sinned and made a barrier between themselves and God, But God was sending a little baby to break that barrier.
Jesus came into the world to forgive us of our sin.
What an amazing Christmas present.
God in his wisdom sent Jesus to die for my sin so that I can be forgiven.
Wow, that is the best Christmas present ever.
